These are renderings that I created for clients who were converting a three season cottage on Little York Lake to a four season home on the water. The space was completely reconfigured from the existing layout shifting the shower, closet and doorways. Having extensive knowledge about construction from having been a General Contractor, I was able to create a plan that was possible, because I understand all that it takes to make a plan happen.
This re-design of the directors office was a unique challenge because the space was fixed. There wasn't an option to expand or move doorways. Being able to sit down with the director and in real time, and shift elements of the 3D rendering during meetings helped us reach a design by being in the space virtually.
An historic home can be a challenge because often, closets and storage were never included in the original structure. This was a clever solution that gained the homeowners seating, storage and a space where laundry could be done, all within the original footprint.
When I design furniture or built in pieces, I produce sketches as a guide. These become shop plans for myself as I go from quote, to the final brush stroke. Being able to sketch in person with a client helps them to see possibilities and the sketch becomes the common understanding of what it is the client wants, and what I can build.
